Expo Line: Can Los Angeles Step Up Their City Game?
July 26th, 2010 · No Comments
Almost every major city has a stereotyped flaw(s). New Yorkers are rude and always in a hurry. London has crap weather and food. Seattle is always rainy and depressed. Las Vegas is nothing but debauchery. Los Angeles traffic sucks. Regardless of the truth, these are the generally held negative perceptions of these cities.
Well, the truth […]

Nike SB - Today was a good day
August 1st, 2009 · 1 Comment
Filmed in Los Angeles. If you watched the X games today, you probably saw this ad plenty, but just in case:
I’m still torn about Nike trying to muscle into the skateboarding shoe world, but I guess it was only a matter of time.

Bart Simpson’s Cover Shot and Photo Spread in Skatebook #3
May 11th, 2009 · 1 Comment
Who is the world’s most famous skateboarder? Even more than Tony Hawk, Rob Dyrdek, and Bam Margera, I vote Bart Simpson as the most recognizable skater on the planet. Because of this, it is no shock that he appears on the cover of Skatebook #3. This large hard cover book by Lance Mountain and Salman […]

Beerfest: Kyoto Grand Hotel and Garden Los Angeles
September 10th, 2008 · 2 Comments
This must be a huge mistake. “Beerfest” at the Kyoto Hotel Garden is
nothing like “Beerfest” the movie or Oktoberfest. There is no polka music,
or beer steins…actually they have only 6 types of beer and the scene wasn’t
very festive.
Despite being bamboozled into attending Beerfest, it was still a pretty good
time. The Japanese Garden is on the […]

Restaurant Review of EL Tepeyac
August 22nd, 2008 · 1 Comment
I was on my lunch break and I’m happy to say that I’ve tried yet another good burrito within Los Angeles. This place is in the Boyle Heights area of L.A. I was warned before hand that it is like eating inside of a Mexican Aunt’s living room (this could be either positive or negative […]

This hidden Sandwich Shop has a lot going for it. It’s a local gem of San Pedro that not many people know about. They serve HUGE sandwiches. The first time I went there, I ate half a sausage sandwich and I felt like my stomach was filled with lead. I really […]

Life is Beautiful Exhibit in Los Angeles - Mr. Brainwash
July 12th, 2008 · No Comments
On June 17th there was an indoor/outdoor solo Art Exhibit called Life is Beautiful. It was put on by Mr. Brainwash or Thierry Guetta. His work riffs a lot on pop art. It is playful and creative, but is still approachable for those who may not know much about art. Here are some of the pieces that caught […]

Ahhhh…Wonton Soup. It was my chicken soup for sick or rainy days growing up. Although I never knew what was in a wonton as a kid, there was something comforting about wonton soup served up in a steaming bowl. Among a few other things, what really brought me to B’s Wonton […]

The Ticket Assassin takes on Traffic Violations
May 24th, 2008 · 9 Comments
The streets really aren’t safe anymore. There are red light cameras on every block, traffic cops are shooting to kill, and even Paris and Lindsey can’t get away with DUIs. The Ticket Assassin is our only hope. He offers step by step guidance to traffic violators in California. The Ticket Assassin really is Bernard Mulroy, […]
