This review is part of the 10 Days of Carne Asada Article.
Tacos Mexico is a chain of taco shops which has a telltale red and white decor. The first time I came to Tacos Mexico was in Las Vegas and some of the menu options were a bit shocking. They have lengua (tongue), sesos (brains), tripa (tripe), or cabeza (head). It sounded kinda like an episode of fear factor, but nowadays I would give any one of these strange cuts a try. I also remember that they had a delicious carne asada burrito with an insanely spicy hot sauce, but it is tough to accurately rate any food after 3 days partying in Vegas.
This time around, the carne asada burrito was very good. Typically, their carne asada burrito comes with rice and beans, but the meat only burrito was still very large. The texture of the meat was perfect, but it was tough to assess the meat’s taste through the ample amounts of spicy salsa. I am not complaining because as a whole the burrito tasted great, but I am pretty sure much of that flavor came from the sauce. Next time I’ll sub the carne asada for some sesos.
Meat Size and Texture: 9
Meat Flavor: 6
Sauce: 9
Overall Burrito: 8
